NOTES: Comes with Archives extract confirming production in 1954. In production between 1950 and the late 1960s, reference 2509 is the twin of its contemporary reference 2508. The difference among the two models is that the 2508 has sweep centre seconds, while the 2509 features subsidiary seconds. The current example features strong hallmarks, a well-preserved dial, and of course its original soft iron dust cap. Introduced during a period when Patek Philippe emphasized both elegance and technical resilience, the reference 2509 was notable for its robust waterproof case, manufactured by Taubert & Fils, a respected case maker known for its screw-back designs. This added durability, combined with the anti-magnetic properties provided by the soft iron inner cap, made the 2509 a rare blend of understated aesthetics and practical engineering.
