Beginning in 1980, Omega was the first brand to have a sapphire display back on its serially produced watches and it was on a white and yellow gold limited edition Speedmaster. The first stainless steel version 345.0808 was released in 1985 and the 3592.50 is the successor reference this that one. These sapphire caseback models came with a decorated movement and a metal cam vs delrin to showcase a more prestigious movement through the caseback. This 863 caliber was initially called the 861L (luxe).
