Skeletonisation has long been part of Audemars Piguet’s decorative tradition, involving the reduction of a movement to its essential structure while preserving its functionality and reliability.
The present reference 4332, dating to circa 1993, is powered by the ultra-thin calibre 2120 automatic movement. In this example, the movement has been extensively openworked, exposing the gear train and oscillating weight while retaining the calibre’s inherent symmetry and technical integrity.
With no conventional dial, time is indicated solely by the hands, allowing the movement to dominate the design. The yellow gold case remains understated, placing emphasis on the architecture, hand-finishing and refined craftsmanship of the openworked calibre.
