Released in 1980, following the 10 year anniversary of the Apollo XI mission in 1979, the BA 345.0802 (yellow gold, less than 300pcs) & BC 345.0802 (white gold, 20pcs) the first Omega reference to be fitted with a see-through sapphire display caseback. From our research, this model was the first serially produced sapphire caseback wristwatch in the world. The movement was specially decorated and rhodium plated with the reference 861L (luxe) and 19 jewels instead of 17. According to the Omega Museum these watches were predominantly delivered to the Swiss and German markets, although a few have appeared with archives showing delivery to other markets (i.e. USA).
