Serial: 15050
Circa: 1981
Reference: 94010

CONDITION REPORT: The case appears unpolished with original finish and chamfers intact, but with clear signs of wear. The MN81 military engraving on the back is original and clearly visible. The dial is original with the surface perfectly intact and has light patina on the tritium indexes. The hands are also original and react correctly under the UV light, but appear to have been stabilized at some point leaving a slight sheen on the luminous material. The bezel insert is original with a nice lightly faded to bright blue color.
Overall, a stunning example of a rare military issued reference.

NOTES: Tudor worked with the French Navy ( Marine Nationale) closely in the development of their dive watch Submariners. Starting in the 1950’s, the Marine Nationale was provided a small batch of 7922 big crown watches for testing, however they often had issues due to their protruding crowns being often prone to shocks and compromising the water resistance. The MN needed a more robust case and the response was the reference 7928 with crown guards to offer protection to the crown when divers were working under water.
The most notable update to the Tudor Submariner was the introduction of the snowflake dial. A layout intended for optimal underwater visibility.
The blue snowflake dial without date 9401 or 94010 were the most iconic and became synonymous with the Marine Nationale watches.
This watch was re-released by Tudor in 2021 as an hommage to this long standing relationship and part of them were issued to the Marine Nationale as well.
