Rolex Submariner*** 5512 Square Crown*** 1960
Rolex Submariner 5512, Square Crown Guard, Glossy 2 Color Dial
Serial: 478062
Circa: 1960
Reference: 5512

DIAL: Black glossy dial with chapter ring, luminous markers & Submariner printed in gold gilt below 200m=660ft that is in silver gilt. Swiss only.

CASE: 40mm, stainless steel with red triangle black rotating bezel.
Inner case back dated III.59 with 5512 reference.

MOVEMENT: Caliber 1530, Automatic, 25 jewels

BRACELET: Rolex stainless Oyster stretch rivet bracelet 'Big Logo' dated 1-60, with 58 endlinks

CONDITION REPORT: The watch is in overall excellent condition. The case appears worn, but unpolished. The bezel insert is original and has faded over time to a grey color with a few visible marks. The dial is stunning with lume plots intact. There are tiny hairlines on the edges of the dial and one little mark above the 3 o'clock marker. This is a spectacularly preserved example of an ultra rare configuration. The original crystal was preserved on the side when we replaced it with a TrueDome D19.
The movement was fully overhauled (after photography) in November 2023.

NOTES: The reference 5512 was initially released by Rolex in 1959 and was the first Submariner to feature crown guards. This Square Crown Guard case construction only lasted about a year before being replaced by the Eagle Beak Crown Guard case with some overlap in serial numbers even. Both of these are among the rarest and most sought after variants of the 5512 Submariner.
