DIAL: Black ‘Explorer’ dial, silver gilt printing, with Triange 12, Numeral 3-6-9 applied with black center and baton tiritum applied luminous hour markers

MOVEMENT: Caliber 3000, Automatic, 27 jewels

CASE: 36mm, stainless steel with smooth bezel, sapphire crystal

BRACLET: Stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet Ref 78560 with 558B end links, Code P6 (1991)

CONDITION REPORT: Excellent condition and all original. Sticker still on the caseback. Pinholes of the case are sharp, but case appears to be worn. and likely sleeve polish.

NOTES: The first series 14270 known as the 'Blackout' had silver gilt printing on the dial and the 3-6-9 indexes were filled with black lacquer. This was replaced with white printing and white lacquer in those indexes on the subsequent series.

The Explorer 14270 was the successor to the 1016 with the introduction of the sapphire crystal, Caliber 3000 and the applied hour markers on the glossy black dial instead of the printed markers on a matte dial.
